CLASS V
Drum & percussion music from Jon Keliehor, created for the highly skilled, energetic dancers and musicians of London Contemporary Dance Theatre . . . “a groundbreaking, inspired work”.
A single twenty-eight minute work with contrasting sections. Despite a deceptively gentle start, version-five of this music features high-energy drumming and a complex array of instruments for three musicians. Rhythms and textures quickly build, cascade, charge, turn back on themselves, and evolve in unpredictable ways.

The Times
Jon Keliehor has written the inventive percussion score, which he and three colleagues perform on an astonishingly varied and extensive collection of instruments completely filling a large raised platform at the back of the stage. This provides the only decor and is quite sufficient.

Dance
“Class” . . . serves to introduce the dances and demonstrate the company style. Performed to a percussive score by Jon Keliehor, the increasing complexity and tempo of the movement combined to create the paradox of exhilaration through exhaustion - my companion tottered to the bar afterwards feeling that he had actually participated in the strenuous exercise.

He is great! In hand drumming, Keliehor must only bow his head to himself & the maker cos he is a master, make no mistake. I haven't heard a sound like his in a long time. Other accompanists are nothing in comparison because there is no magic. As soon as I heard his music there was magic & I knew this was someone good. Please do more, it's raw, it's vibrant, it's sexy and it's the basis of life.
